Bill Hogsett - Environmental Protection Agency
My personal career progression would have been accelerated had I earned a Professional Science Master’s degree. With my PhD in biochemistry, I initially worked for the EPA in molecular research, then at the ecological and finally landscape and policy development levels. The PSM in Environmental Sciences at Oregon State University is a degree unlike any other, and I’ve enjoyed advising many of its students. The breadth of employment possibilities available to PSM graduates is far beyond that of traditional M.S. holders, especially in government agencies and consulting firms. Students who are attracted to PSM programs are more resourceful—they’re good at building a cadre of peers and opportunities, and that’s uncharacteristic of traditional graduate students.
