Restoration Intern
Position Description: The ACE intern will implement all aspects of the Desert View Restoration Project including general restoration site maintenance. The intern will be expected to serve as a co-leader, with NPS staff and interns, for groups of volunteers involved in restoration activities at the project area. Activities will contribute to the successful restoration of areas that have been impacted by human caused disturbance within Grand Canyon National Park. Emphasis of the work will be in the Park’s developed areas at Desert View. The intern may also conduct work in South Rim Village and at the Native Plant Nursery. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary. All work will be documented, providing man-hours and tasks completed for reporting to NPS and as required by law. Start Date: July 5, 2011 Compensation: Interns will work 40 hours per week and receive compensation of $110/week, paid bi-weekly, for food and incidentals. Shared in-park housing will be provided by NPS.
End Date: 24 weeks from start date (Approximately July 5 – December 22, 2011, or as weather conditions, agency needs, and housing availability allows.)
